The Cherokee salmon is mostly distributed in the Heilongjiang, Tumen, and Irtysh rivers and other waterways in China. Overseas distribution in Russia's Siberia, the Lena River to the Berchaura River, Eastern Europe, the Volga River and the upper reaches of the Ural River and other rivers.
The chum salmon grows fast and develops at an equal rate, and is a large economic fish. The general individual is more than 3 kilograms, the big one can reach 50 kilograms, and the length is more than 1 meter. The meat is tasty and tender, and is a nutritious fish and a specialty of the alpine region, and is a precious food in the production area.
There is no detailed report on the amount of resources of Cherokee salmon, but according to the record of "Fishery Resources of Heilongjiang Province" (1985), the number of Cherokee salmon in Heilongjiang has decreased significantly compared with the past, and it almost does not account for a proportion of the catch in the whole province. This is mainly due to overfishing during the breeding season, which greatly reduces the replenishment of the population, and environmental pollution, which destroys the environmental conditions for survival, resulting in a significant decline in the amount of resources.
