It consists of the root of modification and the root of central component in turn. Complex forms can also have more morphemes. A compound word consisting of two roots, the former modifying the latter. Such as straw hat, new house, cradle, disintegration, credulity and laxity, orange, light green and fragrant in modern Chinese.
Semi-formal compound words mean that one morpheme plays a role of modification and restriction and is added in front of another morpheme. These two morphemes constitute the relationship between the former and the latter. Generally speaking, the semi-formal central morpheme determines the part of speech of a word.
