The inventor of Sun Cake is Wei Qinghai. Originally, it was a snack that Taiwan Province people ate with tea. After many improvements, it became what it is now. Originally called malt cake, it was later renamed sun cake because of the name of a manufacturer, but there is also a saying that it is so called because it looks like the Japanese flag.
