Diarrhea can make the body lose a lot of water, salt and nutrients, especially infants are prone to dehydration and malnutrition. Therefore, the World Health Organization has formulated the "Diarrhea Control Plan", which holds that:
1. Patients with diarrhea should be given enough fluids, including water, porridge, soup and food rich in water, to prevent dehydration. Once dehydration occurs, they should be given oral rehydration solution to replenish the lost water and electrolyte.
2. Do not advocate fasting, so as not to lead to malnutrition, and eat more nutritious, high-calorie and digestible foods. Soup and porridge can only be used as supplementary liquids, not as food substitutes.
3. Avoid greasy, fiber-rich, high-sugar, gas-producing and irritating foods during diarrhea.
The food that diarrhea patients eat should be newly cooked. Patients with chronic diarrhea should not eat food that has been stored for a long time and is rotten and unclean.
5. The tableware of diarrhea patients should be dedicated by special personnel, and boiled and disinfected after use.
