When strawberries are in summer, when the temperature is higher than 3℃ and the sunshine is strong, shading measures should be taken.

Strawberry is a light-loving plant, but it has strong shade tolerance. Under light intensity, the plants are short and strong, with small fruit, dark color and good quality. Medium light, large fruit, light color, low sugar content and long harvest period; Weak light is bad for strawberry growth.

Strawberry has shallow root distribution, large transpiration and strict requirements for water, but it has different growth stages. Strawberries have slightly different water requirements. In early spring and flowering period, strawberries need to have a lint percentage lower than 7% of the maximum soil water capacity.

The demand for fruit growth and maturity is the highest, reaching more than 8%. After harvesting, stolons and new adventitious roots should be pulled out, and the soil water content should be not less than 7%. Autumn is the period of plant accumulation and flower bud formation, and the soil water content should not be less than 6%. Strawberries are not waterlogged, so the soil should have good permeability, and attention should be paid to field drainage in rainy season.

Strawberries should be grown in fertile, loose, neutral or slightly acidic loam, and it is not suitable for cultivation in too sticky soil. Strawberries can also be planted in sandy soil with more manure and frequent irrigation.
