1, poor ventilation
Because potted strawberries are generally maintained indoors, if they are maintained indoors, if the doors and windows are closed for a long time, the plants will grow poorly under the condition of poor ventilation. It needs frequent ventilation to keep the air circulating and plants can breathe fresh air. Moreover, in the case of poor ventilation, it is difficult for water to evaporate in time, and root rot will occur at the same time.
2. Soil discomfort
Strawberries like to grow in fertile soil. If the potted soil is not ready, the growth of strawberries is naturally not good. Humus soil, vegetable garden soil, base fertilizer and river sand are needed to prepare the substrate for strawberries. This substrate has good drainage and air permeability, which is beneficial to the growth of strawberries. The container should be slightly larger to ensure sufficient growth space for its roots.
3. Lack of water and fertilizer
The soil nutrient level of potted strawberries is limited, so it needs to be watered frequently to keep the soil moisture. If you are busy at ordinary times and forget to water, it will seriously affect the normal growth of strawberries, so there will always be the death of potted strawberry seedlings. Potted strawberries should be kept slightly wet, and watered with thin fat water every month to ensure adequate nutrients and water.
Matters needing attention in strawberry planting
The optimum temperature for strawberry growth above ground is 15-25 degrees, and the optimum temperature for photosynthesis is 20-25 degrees. The growth below 10 degree is poor, and the photosynthesis and growth above 30 degree are inhibited. Plants on the ground begin to grow when the temperature reaches 5℃, suffer from freezing injury at -7℃ and freeze to death below-10℃. The optimum temperature for root growth is 15-23℃, and the flowering period is lower than 0℃ or higher than 40℃, which will affect pollination and fertilization and the normal development of seeds, resulting in abnormal fruit, and flower bud differentiation must be carried out between 5- 17℃.
Strawberry has shallow roots and large leaves, is sensitive to water, likes humidity and is afraid of waterlogging. Different phenological periods require different amounts of water. During germination and flowering, the soil moisture content shall not be less than 70% of the maximum water holding capacity, and the air humidity shall be 40%-60%. The fruit expansion period requires more than 80%, and the flower bud formation period should be kept at about 60%. As usual, stagnant water will affect the growth of roots and plants. In severe cases, leaves will turn yellow, wither, fall off, and even cause plant death. Therefore, watering is not very frequent.
