Yangzhou Industrial Vocational and Technical College is located in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, a famous historical and cultural city which has won the "United Nations Award for the Best Habitat Environment", and it is situated in Yangzijin Science and Education Park in the southwest university city. It is located in the Yangzijin Science and Education Park of the Southwest University City, and was built by the Department of Education of Jiangsu Province and the Yangzhou Municipal People's Government***.

The school was established in July 2004 with the approval of the People's Government of Jiangsu Province through the merger of the former Yangzhou Chemical Industry School and Yangzhou Architecture and Engineering School. The former Yangzhou Chemical School was founded in 1978, under the Jiangsu Provincial Petrochemical Industry Department; the former Yangzhou Architecture and Engineering School was founded in 1981, under the China National Nuclear Corporation, the two schools were transferred to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education in 1999 under the direct control. The school is the largest engineering higher vocational college in central Jiangsu Province, and the only provincial model higher vocational college construction unit in Yangzhou.

In the results of the excellent papers of the Sixth Annual Academic Conference of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Yangzhou City, the university won two first prizes, one second prize, and three third prizes; in the results of the 2011-2013 Outstanding Academic Papers in Natural Sciences of Yangzhou City, the university won two second prizes, five third prizes, and 18 excellent prizes; in the competition of the Outstanding Soft Science Achievements of the Association for Science and Technology of Yangzhou City, the university won 1 first prize, 3 third prizes and 12 excellent prizes.
