Songshan District is located in the center of Taipei and is an administrative district under the jurisdiction of Taipei City.

The area is a mixed residential and commercial area, with many large department stores, shopping malls, and nightclubs. The Taipei Arena and Songshan Airport are also located in this area.

The Raohe Street Night Market in the area is one of Taiwan's famous tourist night markets.

The area around Dunhua North Road and Nanjing East Road is also an important financial business district in Taipei. Many well-known domestic and foreign companies and financial institutions are gathered here. This area also has the earliest urban planned development zone in Taipei City - Minsheng Community.

, due to the low built-up rate in this area, strict restrictions on floor area ratio, parks everywhere, and complete cultural and educational facilities, it is still one of the high-end residential areas in Taipei City.

In 2010, Taipei City held a flower expo and established the district flower. Songshan District was hibiscus, and the Civil Affairs Bureau also specially produced district flower house signs.
