To the east of Guangzhou are Shantou City, Meizhou City, Shanwei City, Chaozhou City and Jieyang City.
1. Shantou City Shantou City, referred to as "Shantou", also known as Tuocheng and Tuodao, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, a provincial sub-central city, and the capital of Chaozhou cuisine. It is located at the southern end of the Hanjiang Delta, bordering Chaozhou to the north and Chaozhou to the west.
Jieyang is bordered by the South China Sea to the south and Taiwan to the east across the sea. The Hanjiang River, the Rongjiang River, and the Lianjiang River flow into the sea. It is the only city in China with an inner bay.
2. Meizhou City Meizhou City is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province. It is located in the northeast of Guangdong Province and at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, with a land area of ??15,800 square kilometers.
During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it belonged to Chaozhou. In the third year of Qianhe in the Southern Han Dynasty (945), Chengxiang was promoted to Jingzhou.
In the fourth year of Kaibao's reign in the Song Dynasty (971), Jingzhou was renamed Meizhou.

Shanwei City Shanwei City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is located on the southeastern coast of Guangdong Province, at the southern foot of Lianhua Mountain, on the east coast of the Pearl River Delta, separated from Taiwan Province by a water, with a total area of ??4865.05 square kilometers.
4. Chaozhou City Chaozhou City, referred to as "Chao", is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province. It is located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, in the middle and lower reaches of the Han River. It borders Zhangzhou City in Fujian Province to the east, and Jieyang City and Jieyang City in eastern Guangdong Province to the west, south and north respectively.

5. Jieyang City Jieyang City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is also known as "Lingnan Water City". It is located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, spanning 115°36ˊ to 116°37ˊ39" east longitude, and 22°53ˊ to 23°46ˊ27" north latitude; the terrain is from the west
It tilts eastward and has a subtropical monsoon climate; as of the end of 2021, Jieyang City has jurisdiction over 2 municipal districts, 2 counties, and 1 county-level city.
The city has a total land area of ??5,240 square kilometers and a sea area of ??9,300 square kilometers; the permanent population at the end of the year was 5.6168 million.
