Today, the predecessor of the National Arena in Summer and Autumn is Meiji Jingu Outer Court Arena (Japanese: Meiji Jingu Outer Court Arena), which was built in 1924. Initially, Tokyo, Japan held the Asian Games of 1958 and decided to bid for the Summer Olympic Games of 1960, so it is planned to build a sports ground suitable for holding international competitions. This place has also been transferred from Meiji Jingu to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, which is a national facility.
After becoming the main stadium of the 1958 Asian Games and the 1964 Summer Olympic Games, it is mostly used to hold concerts or sports events such as track and field, football and rugby.
In 2008, due to the aging of the venue and other reasons, an investigation and research assistant meeting was established with the intention of transforming the venue into a stadium. When Tokyo applied for the 20 16 Summer Olympic Games, it was planned to build a main stadium at Qinghai Pier to hold a football match there, but in the end Tokyo was not selected as the host city and the plan was terminated.
Subsequently, in 20 1 1, Tokyo once again put forward the plan to bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, with the existing facilities as one of the goals and the National Arena as the main stadium. However, when bidding for international competitions, the problem of aging facilities in venues still appears. In this regard, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan decided to rebuild the stadium after discussion with the Japan Sports Promotion Center, and spent more than 6,543.8 billion yen (2065,438+02) on the budget.
Japan's new national stage
February 20 12, the basic idea of rebuilding the national stadium was announced, and it was planned to build a retractable dome stadium with a capacity of 80,000 people. Ichiro Kono, director of the Japan Sports Promotion Center, also said: "Building a world-class venue."
It is reported that the new stadium will be renovated on the basis of the original Tokyo National Arena. In order to save money and highlight the concept of environmental protection, some infrastructure will be used. The new stadium is scheduled to start construction at the end of 20 15. When completed, it will accommodate 80,000 spectators and be equipped with retractable ceilings. The shape of the whole stadium will be futuristic, similar to the alien spacecraft in science fiction movies.
In addition, in the planning of the Japanese Olympic Committee, the new national stadium is only one of all Olympic venues, and other venues and facilities will be placed in or around Tokyo, among which the Olympic Village of delegations will be located in Tokyo Bay and built by the sea. After the Olympic Games, the Olympic Village will be transformed into ordinary houses.
In the same year, the "International Design Competition for the Basic Concepts of the New National Arena" was held, because the surrounding facilities in the outer courtyard of Meiji Jingu also include Meiji Jingu Baseball Field, Tokyo Gymnasium and Chifu Palace Rugby Field (Japanese: Chifu Palace ラグビーーーーーーーーーーー1254
A total of 46 works were submitted. First, 1 1 works were selected, and the final review was conducted in June of that year. Finally, Zaha Hadid, an Iraqi-born British architect, was favored by the judges, won the best prize and adopted his scheme.
The construction cost of this website is less than130 billion yen. Demolition of existing facilities began in the summer of 20 14, and started in the autumn of 20 15. It is planned to be completed in 20 19.
