An equally beautiful hometown of overseas Chinese was discovered in Tengchong, Yunnan, which has remained unknown until now.
Regarding travel in Yunnan, most people have been to Kunming, Lijiang, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Shangri-La and other places. However, on the border of Yunnan, 200 kilometers away from Myitkyina, Myanmar, and 602 kilometers away from Ledo, India, there is a small town called Tengchong.
My personal favorite place.
Tengchong, the "first city on the edge" of Yunnan, is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, a country of literature and a jade distribution center.
Almost every traveler who has been to Tengchong would like to go there again one day.
The volcanic hot sea, Beihai Wetland, Gaoligong Mountain, Heshun Ancient Town... Because of the comfortable climate, numerous delicacies, and profound history and culture, many foreign tourists have been attracted to live in Tengchong.
But maybe you don’t know that in addition to Heshun Ancient Town, there is also an equally beautiful hometown of overseas Chinese hidden in Tengchong - Qiluo.
Led by a local friend, we drove to Xia Qiluo Village in Tengyue Town, Tengchong City one afternoon in Tengchong.
Qiluo, with a history of more than 600 years, has beautiful scenery and simple folk customs.
But very few tourists arrive here because it has not been developed for tourism and retains the original flavor of the ancient village.
The first thing that catches the eye is the Qiluo Wenchang Palace, which was built in 1609.
Although it has experienced more than 400 years of vicissitudes, the entire building complex is basically well preserved.
This is a group of architectural complex built by combining the rules of Confucian temples with Taoist temples. It is famous for its large scale, grandeur and exquisite craftsmanship.
There are no tickets for Qiluo Ancient Town, and there are no facilities such as B&Bs.
Walking leisurely in Qiluo Ancient Town, the locals live leisurely, as if the outside world has nothing to do with this place.
In the corner of a certain house, firecracker flowers bloomed extremely brilliantly.
Love this place, so quiet.
When Xu Xiake, a great traveler and geographer of the Ming Dynasty, visited Tengchong, he wrote such praises as "Qiluo, the ambition is to make Luoluo, and its village is quite prosperous", "The bamboo trees are sparse, the fields are scattered, and it is also a secluded environment."
Qi Luo's text.
This is enough to show that hundreds of years ago, Qiluo was a beautiful, prosperous and developed village, and its prosperity was closely related to its history of overseas Chinese affairs.
"The jade comes from Teng Yue, and the transportation comes from Qi Luo", these eight words on the white wall are very eye-catching.
I went to Qiluo Library again. The door is a traditional Zhaobi style building, simple and elegant.
Unfortunately, this library is not open to the public yet.
According to historical records, Qiluo Library has the earliest history in Tengchong.
In order to achieve the goal of "working together to revitalize their hometown and build a new Qiluo", Qiluo overseas Chinese and local virtuous people created the Qiluo Books and Newspapers Reading Room in Tengchong.
Bridges, water, trees, houses, blue bricks, green tiles, double eaves... constitute an idyllic landscape painting.
The entire Qiluo has "one palace, two temples, and five ancestral temples", as well as numerous ancient residences, ancient wells, ancient plaques, and various types of family halls representing Han culture, most of which are antiques from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
So many cultural relics and historic sites are concentrated in the residential area of ??Xia Qiluo Village, which is less than one square kilometer. Its density is so high that it is rare in the country.
Wandering around Qiluo Ancient Town, I came across the Duan Jiayu Mansion in a conspicuous place. I had nothing to do and went in to take a look around.
Tengchong is the birthplace of the jade processing industry, and jade carving is the first cornerstone of Tengchong's industrial and economic development, with a history of more than 400 years.
The jade processing industry in Tengchong started in the mid-Ming Dynasty and flourished in the Qing Dynasty, giving Tengchong the reputation of "Emerald City".
It is said that even the most ordinary woman on the streets of Tengchong may be wearing a jade bracelet worth hundreds of thousands.
Stepping into Duan Jiayu's Mansion, this is a large courtyard house with antique charm.
After being introduced by a local friend, I learned that Qiluo Duan Jiayu is a century-old brand in Tengchong, ranking first among the four famous jade brands in Tengchong, and is now the fifth generation heirloom.
I also appreciated a lot of high-quality jadeite, and learned a lot about the history of Tengchong jadeite, and the story of Duan Shengcai, the pioneer of Qiluo Duanjia Jadeite.
"Duan Jiayu" is one of the famous jadeite jade. The raw material of Duanjiayu bracelet is recognized in the jade world as the unique piece of jade discovered so far.
In the huge exhibition hall, choosing a piece of jade that you like is actually about fate.
Looking at these exquisite jade carvings, I just lamented the lack of money.
With a heartbeat, as long as my ability allowed, I chose a safety buckle for my mother, hoping that she would be healthy and safe.
Buying a piece of jade is trust in the Qiluo Duan Jiayu brand and trust in a person.
In the courtyard on the first floor, there is also a stone betting area.
A piece of rough stone, wrapped with yellow tape, you don't know what's inside, it's like buying a blind box.
After leaving Qiluo Duan Jiayu, we went to Shuiying Temple again.
This is one of the eight ancient temples in Tengchong. It is known as "water reflects the temple, the temple reflects the water, and the water flows in the temple." It has a history of nearly 500 years and is also one of the more complete ancient temples in Tengchong County.
After hundreds of years of wind and rain, Shuiying Temple shows the mottled effects of time.
It's a pity that I couldn't enter it that day.
