The origin of the name of this dish is actually related to its inventor, whose name is Ding Baozhen. Ding Baozhen, a native of Guizhou, loves spicy taste, and also likes peanuts and chicken, so he put the three favorite elements of life, pepper, peanuts and chicken, into a dish and created a dish called Fried Chicken with Sauce.

Ding Baozhen worked in Sichuan, and he was very diligent and made numerous contributions. After his death, the court at that time made him Ding Gongbao in recognition of his achievements. So later generations called Ding Gu's sauce fried chicken diced, Ding Gong Bao's chicken diced, or kung pao chicken for short. This is the origin of the name of kung pao chicken, which is actually a memorial to Ding Baozhen.
