Yangzhong is located in the middle of the Yangtze River on the east side of Lieshan, Dantu District, Zhenjiang City, and belongs to Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province. Yangzhong is a county-level city that is a member of Nanjing Metropolitan Area. It faces Yangzhou and Taizhou across the river to the north and Zhenjiang and Changzhou to the south. The city consists of four Dao Jiang cities, namely Taiping Island, Zhongxinsha, Xisha Island and Leigong Island, with a total area of 332 square kilometers, of which the land area is 228 square kilometers.
Yangzhong has a short history. According to data, during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874), sandbars in the Yangtze River emerged one after another.
