Caoxieshan cultural site is a typical site in Neolithic culture period. Linking Majiabang culture with Liangzhu culture is helpful to form the sequence of prehistoric culture development in Taihu Lake Basin. Caoxieshan cultural site belongs to a complete sequence of cultural sites in regional archaeology. It is of great archaeological significance to the excavation of Caoxieshan cultural site in Suzhou, and these textual research materials are of great value to the establishment of archaeological chronology in Southeast China.
As an ancient cultural site of Neolithic Age in Taihu Lake Basin, Majiabang cultural paddy field of Caoxieshan site 6000 years ago is the earliest ancient paddy field with irrigation system found in China. The carbonized rice unearthed from the site has been identified as cultivated rice, which provides a physical basis for studying the origin of rice cultivation and cultivated rice in China and is an important achievement in paddy field archaeology and research in China.
