1. Geography:
Leeds University is not big, so it is not as scattered as some other universities, and it is more convenient for all colleges to walk together.
Almost every bus in front of the door goes to the city center, starting at 1 pound.
It is also convenient to take a taxi. There is always a taxi parked in front of the door.
Sometimes after class, my classmates and I will sneak into the city center for dinner and go home.
2. Accommodation:
There are student apartments and company-run apartments in schools not far from the school and the city center.
Student apartments are more expensive, ranging from 4,300 to more than 6,000 a year. Foreign roommates are more likely to hold parties or something.
In order to be quiet and economical, there are also many good houses for rent around the school. You can go to unipol's website and have a look.
You can also ask the student union for housing help.
3. Diet:
There is more than one canteen in the school, but most people go to the museum of the student union.
Buffet is easy to get tired of eating too much, and foreigners eat salty food different from ours.
So many people will go to the small restaurant (pizza and bread) downstairs of the Student Union, and there is also a small supermarket to meet the basic needs, and they can also buy instant noodles with suitable taste (1 pound), Korean instant noodles and so on.
There are also many people who choose to bring their own meals. They can go to the student cafe next to the small supermarket to eat free hot meals, as well as billiards and many sofa chairs.
There are also small restaurants to choose from near the school. If it is not enough, go directly to the listing center and have everything.
4. Entertainment and shopping:
Leeds is famous for its nightlife. There are many bars and cinemas in different places.
There is karaoke in China restaurant next to China supermarket in the city center, but it is not cheap.
If you go shopping, the Trinity Shopping Center in downtown is quite large, just like a center. On the first and second floors, there are various brands of shops, such as Victoria Apple's Secret, HM TOPSHOP, Swarovski Pandora and so on. On the third floor, there are cinemas and restaurants.
There are also various shops in the direct shopping street next to Trinity, such as Hotel chocolate MK LV.
In addition, there are several shopping centers with various brands of cosmetics counters, such as Armani Channel Shu Uemura.
The more advanced shopping plaza is Victoria Square, which feels very beautiful (see the picture below). High-end brands such as vivienne westwood and paul smith are gathered here (all the above shopping activities are concentrated in the city center, so it is very convenient).
In addition to supermarkets, there is also a good place to buy food, that is, the Leeds market in the city center (see the picture below), next to Victoria Square.
It has a beautiful appearance and a history of 100 years.
You can buy all kinds of fruits and vegetables, seafood (more varieties than supermarkets and cheaper prices), some restaurants and a Hong Kong-style bacon shop.
There are also shops that buy wool and various other things.
For example, when I went, I bought a Chinese cabbage for 50p and ate it for several days. The emphasis is on the absolute China flavor.
5. Library:
There are three libraries in the school (not including the one being built now), and each library has a different style.
The one in Parkinson's Building should be the oldest one, with a rich collection of books and convenient self-study.
6. Activities:
I think the student union is a treasure house. Every day, I have different activities to learn about the cultural types of different countries.
There are also cocktail making and Harry Potter broom making courses. You can take a free brochure to read. It has introductions and recommendations.
Su will also regularly show free movies, organize classmates to go on outings in other cities, and sometimes hold activities such as retro commodity markets.
These are all self-registration according to their own interests. Every Monday, farmers sell their own vegetables and handmade cakes and bread at Sue's door.
For Liz, you can't miss the annual bonfire night. Last year, I went to the biggest point with a huge bonfire (the kind where flames can be seen burning into the sky from a few hundred meters away) and a fireworks show.
Last year, there was a parade of soldiers, mayors and other dignitaries, and I also went to the city hall to join in the fun.
Besides, there will definitely be various theme parties in the bar during the holidays. . As long as you don't stay at home, you won't be bored.
7. Public safety:
Although it is said that big cities in Britain are not better than small cities, I think it's nothing.
It is safe around the school. The unsafe place at night is near Hyde Park. I don't live in a rich area. There are many Muslims living around, but I don't think I have been back alone around 8: 30 at the latest, and I don't go out at night.
My roommate didn't come back until 10 or 1 1. They came back by taxi or bus, so if you feel at ease when you come back at night, such as Amber (you can mortgage your student ID card if you have no money to pay the fare), you can take a taxi or call a taxi. The student union will have a shuttle bus to take you home at night. It's cheap, but I haven't tried it.
There may be drunks on the roadside on weekend nights, but the city center is ok, and the rest is not clear. Anyway, pay attention.
In short, public security is not a problem at all, just don't die yourself.
8. Language
There is a language area in the school, and there are many materials for learning languages. I also found some unknown love novels in China.
The language exchange program is newly opened in the past year, which allows two people who are interested in the other country's language to know and communicate.
Just fill out an application form in the language area.
I hope the answer is helpful to you and I hope it will be adopted.
