On the afternoon of March 25th, the 6th Huai 'an Hongze (Jiangba) Snail Festival kicked off in the ancient Zhenjiang Dam. This snail festival will last until the end of May, during which a series of snail festival activities will be launched, such as wetland flower field camping festival, music playing in Jiangba yard, mini marathon in Jiangba section of Baili Gallery, and cultural study tour of river engineering.
Hongze Lake has created a unique lake fresh food. The "Baxian Lake" bred by Hongze Lake has excellent taste and enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad. Known as "snails in spring and shrimps in summer, crabs taste good in autumn and winter". In recent years, the local government has taken the initiative to promote the festival economy, and the name of Jiangba snail is getting louder and louder.
In 2020, "Jiangba Snail" was also certified as an organic product by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and it was also the first organic snail certification in China. This year, the snail farming area in Jiangba Town reached 2000 mu. In addition, by 2023, Jiangba has won the honor of being a national civilized town, a national sanitary town and one of the top ten eco-tourism towns in Jiangsu Province by holding the Snail Festival for five consecutive years.
Factors of the formation of Hongze Lake:
1. The depression formed by crustal fracture is a natural factor for the formation of Hongze Lake, and the embryo began in the small lake before Tang and Song Dynasties. There are mainly Fuling Lake, Pofu Creek, Mudun Lake and Wanjia Lake.
Second, the Yellow River's capture of Huai River is an objective factor that forms the embryonic form of Hongze Lake. In the fifth year of the Song Dynasty (A.D. 1 194), the Yellow River decided to take it, and it was divided into north and south branches on the Liangshanpo. The south branch joins Surabaya and flows southward into the Huaihe River, which is the beginning of the diversion of the Yellow River.
In the fifth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (AD 1855), the Yellow River moved north and entered the sea from Lijin. The Yellow River occupied the Huaihe River for nearly 700 years. Because the Yellow River is condescending, it flows into the Huaihe River, where Huanghuai meets, the flow increases and the water level rises, connecting small lakes and depressions such as Fuling Lake and Broken Kettle Pond into a lake.
3. Building a high weir (Hongze Lake levee) is a man-made factor and a decisive factor for the complete formation of Hongze Lake.
