1. Geographical location

Wuzhong District is located in the south of the historical and cultural city of Suzhou, bordering Suzhou Ancient City, Suzhou Industrial Park, and Suzhou High-tech Zone to the north, Taihu Lake to the west, and Wuxi City and Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province across the lake. The geographical coordinates are 119°55?~120°54? east longitude and 30°56?~31°21? north latitude. The entire territory is 92.95 kilometers long from east to west and 48.1 kilometers wide from north to south.

3. History and Culture

Wuzhong District has a long history and is the birthplace of Wu culture. During the Paleolithic Age about 10,000 years ago, ancestors of Wu region were already living and reproducing. Five thousand years ago in the Neolithic Age, the advanced "Liangzhu Culture" was created. More than 3,000 years ago, Taibo established the "Gouwu" kingdom in Wudi, and there were no historical records. In 221 BC, Qin Shihuang unified China and established "Wuxian". The county name was used until the 20th century. In June 1995, with the approval of the State Council, Wuxian was abolished and Wuxian City (county level) was established. On December 31, 2000, Wuxian was abolished. City, the original Wuxian Municipal District was divided into Wuzhong District and Xiangcheng District, which was officially announced on February 28, 2001. Wuzhong District is located on the shore of Taihu Lake. It has a superior ecological environment and rich natural resources. It is a well-known "Land of Fish and Rice". Wuzhong District is the origin of Dongting (Mountain) Biluochun Tea. Its main agricultural and sideline products include high-quality rice, loquat, bayberry, ginkgo, chestnut, osmanthus, mat grass, water bamboo, lotus root, cress, gorgon fruit, mushroom, water chestnut, water shield, Red water chestnuts, flowers, seedlings, Taihu hairy crabs, Taihu three whites (whitebait, white shrimp, white fish), green shrimps, mandarin fish, eels, river clams, soft-shelled turtles and book goats, Dongshan Lake sheep, ecological grass chickens, etc., among which Dongting (Mountain) Biluochun Tea was rated as a well-known trademark in China.
