According to historical records, Lanzhou beef Lamian Noodles has a history of 200 years. Its founder, Chen Weijing, was a student in imperial academy during Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty.
Three brothers, Chen Weilin, Chen Xiesheng and Chen Hesheng, played a key role in improving and unifying the Lamian Noodles (one clear and two white, three red and four green, Huang Wu) standards of Lanzhou beef, and turned this street snack into a popular food.

Legend has it that in the 1940s, a bearded official of Jiuquan Road in Lanzhou frequented the noodle restaurant of Mabaozi Hotpot Restaurant. Once at dinner, he asked the name of the store, and the boss told him truthfully. He said the hot pot noodles didn't taste good. Look, this noodle soup is rotten and delicious. It's better to call it "clear soup beef noodles" The bearded official is Mr Yu Youren.
He later returned to Chongqing, and after his praise, Lanzhou beef Lamian Noodles became famous all over the country. From this point of view, Mr. Yu Youren is the earliest spokesman of Lanzhou Beef Lamian Noodles.
