Xi 'an, referred to as Chang 'an and Haojing for short, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province. It is the capital of Shaanxi province, a sub-provincial city, a megacity, the core area of xi metropolitan area and the core city of Guanzhong plain urban agglomeration.
