Longevity has always been a topic of great interest to the world. We now have the land of longevity. In ancient times, many emperors were obsessed with the elixir of immortality. For example, Qin Shi Huang was deceived twice by Xu Fu because he wanted to live longer. Several emperors of the Tang Dynasty also died after taking gold and stone medicine because they wanted to live longer.
After all, we all want to live a long life, so the question arises, are those long-lived people in history real?
The famous Peng Zu lived eight hundred years in legend, which is the envy of the world. Why did he live for so long?
First of all, this historical figure is real. Peng Zu was one of the pioneers of Taoism. However, it seems that Taoism had not yet refined elixirs at that time, but paid more attention to health preservation.
Pengzu was born in Pengshan, Sichuan, and was sealed in Xuzhou, Jiangsu. There are historical relics proving that Pengzu lived in Meishan and Xuzhou, such as Pengzu’s tomb, Pengzu temple, Pengzu tower, Pengzu temple, etc. .
Not only are there historical sites where Peng Zu was active in Meishan and Xuzhou, but there are also records about Peng Zu in many history books, which are not recorded in unofficial histories. There are also relevant records in many official histories, such as in "Historical Records· There is this description in "The Family of Chu": "Peng Zu's family was called Hou Bo in the Yin Dynasty, and Peng Zu's family was destroyed in the last years of Yin Dynasty."
As for why Peng Zu lived so long? There are many kinds of legends, including the magical Peng Zu who plays ghosts.
It is said that Peng Zu was originally only 60 years old, but when he was 59 years old, he met a friend named Yang San. The two had a good relationship and became sworn brothers.
This man revealed that he was a ghost after drinking. Peng Zu was shocked and asked him to see how long he could live. When Yang San saw it, the "Book of Life and Death" actually said 60 years old. In other words, Peng Zu only has one year to live.
Yang San felt compassion and tore up Peng Zu’s page. From then on, no ghosts came to take Peng Zu’s lifespan. He also lived for almost 800 years and married many people during this period. It's not like he's a wife, none of these women can live for hundreds of years.
It was not until he proudly revealed the secret to another new wife that he died. It turned out that this wife was sent by the King of Hell to find out the news. After learning the truth, she added this page and then took Peng Zu's life.
If you don’t commit suicide, you will die. It seems you have to keep a low profile.
Of course, these stories must be fiction, so what is the real situation?
It turns out that in the countryside of Sichuan, there is a "little sixty-year old method", 60 days are considered to be one year. If calculated according to this, Peng Zu would have lived about 130 years old, but this does not matter whether it is ancient or modern , are also very long-lived.
So what’s the secret of Peng Zu’s longevity?
According to records, Peng Zu was a gourmet. Qu Yuan said in "Heavenly Questions": "Peng Keng poured pheasant to the emperor to eat", which means that even the emperor liked to drink the pheasant soup he made. The meal is delicious, and he will definitely cook some delicious and healthy food for himself.
Peng Zu also didn't like being an official. King Zhou Mu asked him to be a doctor but was rejected. He was a person who didn't like to be restrained.
Peng Zu has always been called the originator of qigong masters. For such a person who is proficient in food and health, and who is indifferent to fame and fortune, is it not surprising that he can live a long life in the end?
