These two books were monographs on nutrition and diet structure in the Northern Wei Dynasty, which had a far-reaching impact on the catering industry in later generations.
Jia Sixie's Book Yao Min of Qi is rich and comprehensive, involving the processing methods of grain, vegetables, fruits, livestock products and condiments. It is a precious material for studying agricultural production in China from Han Dynasty to Sui and Tang Dynasties. Written in the late Northern Wei Dynasty, it is one of the monographs in the world agricultural history and the earliest complete agricultural book in China.
The Book of Food Classic was written earlier, covering the theories and methods of food preparation, as well as the skills of making a large number of delicious food in court and folk. Author Ho Choi, whose real name is Yuan Bo, gave wine to the doctor in the early Northern Wei Dynasty and named him Wu Gong. He used to be a servant in Taichang Chat, especially General Fu Jun, Dr. Zuo Guanglu and Stuart.
True Prince Taiping was executed in June of 11th year. According to the doctor's records in Sui Zhi, Cui Shi Shijing has four volumes. The Book of Old Tang Dynasty consists of nine volumes, written by Ho Choi. The same is true of New Tang Book. "Tongzhi" contains four volumes of Ho Choi's Cui Shi Food Classics.
Evaluation of later generations
When Darwin studied the theory of evolution, he thought Qi Yaomin's Book was an encyclopedia of China's ancient Origin of Species. In the Ming Dynasty, Wang Tingxiang (1474- 1594) called Qi Yaomin's Book "the policy of benefiting the people and the skill of cultivating farmers to enrich the country".
