Introduction of the Tomb of Dayu Scenic Spot on December 11th, 2121
the Tomb of Dayu is located at the foot of Huiji Mountain in the southeast of Shaoxing, within Huiji Mountain Scenic Spot. According to legend, Dayu was buried here after eight years of water control and three times of staying at home. Although the Hundred Birds Garden scenic spot has been newly opened in the scenic spot, and there is a incense burner peak nearby, the essence of Huiji Mountain scenic spot is still the monuments with the theme of Dayu-Yuling, Yuci and Yumin Temple.
When you enter the scenic spot in the Tomb of Dayu, you will pass through two ticket gates. After checking in, you will go to the direction of the Tomb of Dayu Archway, and then walk a section of Shendao to the Jiyu Square. If you are driving by car, you need to park your car in the parking lot here and then walk. Every Qingming Festival, there will be a public sacrifice to Dayu. There is a stone bridge at one end of the square, and there is an awning boat beside the bridge to visit the surrounding ancient villages (extra charge is required). Crossing the bridge is another gate at the ticket gate. When you enter the gate, you are greeted with a bronze-like Shi Ding, followed by a long tunnel, and at the end is the "the Tomb of Dayu" Monument Pavilion, the core of the scenic spot. Many people take pictures on this iconic monument.
On its right is the Yuci Temple. Now there are some graphic and historical materials about the legend of Dayu's water control. You can go in and visit it. Going out of the Yuci Temple and passing through the Dayu Monument Pavilion is a tortuous stele gallery. There are many steles in the Tomb of Dayu, and most of them are collected here. Among them, the relatively tall tablet "Huiji Engraving Stone" is a relic of the Qianlong period.
Go through Jin Guilin and continue to visit the Yu Temple. According to legend, the Yu Temple was built by Dayu's son at first, and then it was destroyed many times. Now what we see is the style in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. From south to north, the buildings are zhaobi, Ganyu monument, wumen, worship hall and main hall in turn, which gradually rise with the mountain, with magnificent momentum. After crossing the meridian gate, climb the forbidden steps, walk past the worship hall, and then walk forward to the Yuwang Hall. The statue of Dayu is enshrined in the middle of the hall. After the statue, nine cymbals are used as the background to symbolize the successful demarcation of Kyushu by Dayu in water control. There are couplets around the hall to celebrate his achievements and morality. You can feel the memory of Dayu in later generations. Turning right out of the main hall is a scenic spot called the Lushi Pavilion, which is worth looking at. This Lushi stone in the pavilion is an ancient cultural relic in the scenic spot, and it is said that it is a tool for Dayu's burial.
