Subot soup is a favorite delicacy of Russians. It is very common in Harbin, my country. It is made as follows:

1. Blanch the cut beef brisket pieces in boiling water. Remove and drain, then put it into a pressure cooker, add green onion slices, ginger slices, cooking wine, aroma and 1 star anise, add appropriate amount of water and press for about 30 minutes.

2. Heat up a little oil in a wok, fry the remaining star anise until fragrant, then add onion and ginger slices and fry until fragrant. Finally, add tomato paste and stir-fry until it becomes red soup. Add potato cubes and tomato wedges and continue. Stir fry evenly.

3. Pour in the pressed beef brisket cubes and soup, add salt, sugar and very fresh soy sauce to taste, and simmer until the potatoes are almost cooked, add the cabbage cubes.

4. Continue to simmer until the soup in the pot becomes slightly thicker, then add pepper to taste.
