In recent years, archaeologists have scientifically determined the unearthed ancient pottery with radioisotopes, and determined that the pottery-making technology in China began in the Neolithic Age more than 6,000 years ago, especially in the Yellow River valley, Yangshao culture, Majiayao culture, Dawenkou culture and Longkou culture appeared. Shandong ceramics originated in the post-Li Wenhua era 8500 years ago. Dawenkou-Longshan Cultural Zone, which is characterized by black pottery, is an independent development zone.
