Lingao County, which belongs to Hainan Province. In the fifth year of Tang Wude (A.D. 622), the eastern part of Fuluo County was set aside to establish Linji (Chicken) County. In the first year of Kaiyuan reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (713), Linji County was changed to Lingao County.
Lingao County is located in the northwest of Hainan Island, bordering Chengmai County in the east, Danzhou City in the southwest and Qiongzhou Strait in the north. The whole territory is 34 kilometers wide from east to west, 47 kilometers long from north to south, and the land area is 1317 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 1 towns, a farm, 176 village (neighborhood) committees and 865 villagers' groups, and there is a state-owned farm in China. The county seat is 82 kilometers away from the provincial capital. The western expressway around the island and the high-speed railway around the island run through the territory with convenient transportation.
Lingao has a flat terrain, fertile land and rich products, and has always been known as the "land of plenty". With superior agricultural production conditions, it is rich in rice, seed production, melons, vegetables, bananas, rubber, etc. Lingao suckling pig, multi-language spinach, Ma Niao Xin Ying seafood and other delicious foods are famous both inside and outside the province. The coastline is 114.7 kilometers long, with 11 harbors, excellent natural ports such as Jinpai, Xinying, Diaolou and Huanglong, and the shallow beach area is 5,333 hectares. The conditions for developing mariculture are superior, the marine fishing industry is developed, and the marine fishing output and output value rank first in the province. There are abundant tourist resources, such as Lingaojiao, Gaoshanling, Duowenling, Baitan, Houshuiwan, Maniao Bay, Guyin Waterfall, Wang Zuo's former residence, Confucius Temple, and Mrs. Xian Temple. With unique local conditions and customs, it has been rated as "the hometown of Chinese folk art", "the hometown of Tai Ji Chuan in China" and "the hometown of Chinese poetry", and the fishing song "Li Li Mei" and puppet show have been listed as national intangible cultural heritage protection projects.
