Lu Ban is a carpenter who works with wood all day. He is very skilled, especially good at using an axe. He can cut wood into the required shape in a few strokes. The phrase "teach people to play with axes" means that anyone who wants to play with axes in front of Lu Ban is overreaching.
This shows that Lu Ban's proficiency in using an axe. However, it is impossible for Lu Ban to cut the wood smoothly with an axe, especially when the wood has a rough texture and many scars. In order to solve this problem, Lu Ban pondered during the day and thought at night. First, he made a thin axe, which was quickly sharpened. Much better than before, but still not ideal.
So Luban ground a small axe and covered it with a piece of iron, leaving only a narrow blade. Luban won't cut it this time. He pushed the wood with this narrow blade. When pushing, the wood pushed down a thin layer of sawdust.
After pushing for more than a dozen times, the surface of the wood is flat and smooth, which is much better than using an axe to cut it in the past. But when this thing is pushed in your hand, it is both stuck and ineffective. Lu Ban made another wooden pedestal and put it in. So the plane was born.
2. Graphite
Luban runs around all the year round, working for others. On this day, he was busy all morning and sat down to have a rest. A family is going to cook, but there is no flour. They took some wheat, put it in a mortar and pounded it with a heavy pestle.
The wheat masher was so tired that he sweated a little. Because the wheat grain is oval, the force is small and cannot be broken; I was so excited that I smashed the wheat and ran. I'm really anxious. At that time, people used this method. Luban is determined to reform it and solve difficulties for people. ?
Another day, Lu Ban came to work in another place and happened to see an old lady pounding wheat. The old lady is too old to lift the stone pestle. She studied the wheat in the mortar with a pestle. Lu Ban walked over and saw that many wheat grains in the stone mortar had been ground into powder. Lu Ban was inspired by this.
When he got home, Lu Ban asked his wife, Yun Shi, to look for two stones. He chiseled the stone into two large disks and made a groove on one side of each disk. He also installed a wooden handle on one of the disks. The neighbors were surprised. What does Luban do?
Everyone gathered around to watch. I saw Lu Ban put two disks together, and the two sides of the gouge were connected, with a wooden handle on it and a shaft in the middle. He put the wheat grain in the middle of the disc and then turned the stone disc on it. Wheat grains are quickly ground into flour. Everyone is very happy. Luban has really made great contributions to people!
3. Invent the class ruler
Another sign of Lu Ban's invention is that he can draw a right triangle correctly, also known as a class ruler, which can tell craftsmen which sizes are irregular and which sizes are unlucky according to the rules of divination (geomantic omen). These rulers can still be used in Hong Kong today. Saw attached importance to the invention of saw, and Lu Ban contributed a lot.
Or inspired by a blade of grass with a serrated finger, or seeing a cricket cut and eat food with its sharp teeth and leave. Anyway, most of them are described like this. Luban and craftsmen were asked to cut down a lot of wood. After several days of chopping, they were exhausted and their axes became dull.
At this time, Lu Ban suddenly cut his finger by a grass, and he immediately thought: It must be a good way to make a tool for cutting wood. He chose a bamboo and cut a row of teeth on the edge of the bamboo with an axe. This new saw cuts bark easily. When he sawed the tree horizontally back and forth, the soft bamboo teeth were quickly polished. However, this proves the principle that a saw can cut wood.
So Lu Ban put down his hand and went to the blacksmith to prepare an iron plate as hard and sharp as an axe, and then made it into a tooth shape. With this first hand-made saw blade, Luban can use it to cut wood accurately and effortlessly on the wooden frame.
Step 4 invent umbrellas
In ancient times, rainy days and hot summers plagued people, and people had to hide under small pavilions and could not go out. There is a legend that Luban built many pavilions around his neighbors for everyone to use, but he still couldn't let people go out freely during the storm season.
Luban's wife then made a lightweight bamboo pavilion out of oiled paper-an umbrella, of course, which was made according to the style of the pavilion built by her husband. His wife said to Lu Ban, "The house you built can't be moved. My umbrella can carry it around and provide protection in all seasons. "
5. Invented Mo Dou.
Another very important tool invented by Lu Ban is the Mo Dou used by craftsmen (for building projects), which may be inspired by his mother. At that time, his mother was cutting and sewing clothes. Lu Ban watched all this and saw that she used a small powder bag and a thread to print out the desired cut shape first.
Lu Ban taught this practice to Amodou, who grabbed both ends with a thread (soaked with ink beans) and placed it on the material to be printed with the required lines. At first, Lu Ban and his mother had to grab both ends of the line.
Later, his mother suggested that he make a small hook and tie it at one end of the line, thus freeing her from such housework and making it possible for her to finish it alone. In memory of Luban's mother, craftsmen still call it Mo Dou Banmu.
