Design and layout
The layout of Suvarnabhumi Airport can be traced back to 1979, when Thailand sent a delegation to Taiwan Province Province to consult the design of Taoyuan Airport. The taxiway and runway are located on both sides of the terminal, and the terminal adopts H-shaped design to replace the original Don Mueang Airport.
Suvarnabhumi Airport Building designed by Helmut Jahn has two parallel runways (60 meters wide, 4,000 meters long and 3,700 meters long) and 120 parking stands (5 1 near stand and 69 far stand), among which there are 5 dedicated seats for Airbus A380. Its passenger terminal can handle 76 flights per hour with a designed capacity of 45 million passengers and 3 million tons of cargo.
In front of the terminal, there are two parallel taxi lanes, an underground rail transit, a 600-room airport hotel operated by Accor Group, and a 5-storey parking lot for 5,000 cars, which is located between the hotel and the terminal.
