Lushan West Sea Scenic Area is mainly composed of three scenic areas: Lushan West Sea Zhelin Scenic Area, Lushan West Sea Jinkou Scenic Area, and Lushan West Sea Yunju Mountain.
Zhelin Scenic Area is mainly for viewing the sea, islands and rafting, Jingkou Scenic Area is mainly for soaking in hot springs and viewing flower mountains, and Yunju Mountain is mainly for viewing mountain views and praying for blessings.
Lushan West Sea Scenic Area, formerly known as Yunju Mountain-Zhelin Lake Scenic Area, is located in the southwest of Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, spanning Yongxiu and Wuning counties. It is composed of a large reservoir, Zhelin Lake, and Yunju Mountain, a sacred place of Zen Buddhism.
It is a national AAAAA-level scenic spot.
In the scenic area, there are Yunju Mountain with profound Buddhist cultural connotations and Zhelin Lake with vast expanse of blue waves, green islands, first-class atmosphere and first-class water quality.
This type of landscape resource, which closely combines mountainous landscapes with large-scale lake and island scenery, is relatively rare in China.
With the approval of the State Council on December 31, 2005, the Yunju Mountain-Zhelin Lake Scenic Area, the predecessor of the original Lushan West Sea, was listed by the State Council as the sixth batch of national-level scenic spots.
The first batch of national study and practice education bases for primary and secondary school students.
On November 11, 2019, Lushan West Sea Scenic Area was included in the preliminary list of 5A scenic spots.
On December 29, 2020, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism determined it as a national 5A tourist attraction.
