Food education culture

I had dinner with a Banqiao school teacher last night. During the chat, I said that the "food education culture" created by Principal Yin Li was very good and I admired it very much. When the teacher heard this, she was very interested and took the initiative to introduce it to me. She especially said that through the influence of "food education culture", the students' behavior and habits have become more standardized, their civility and etiquette have been improved, and there is a sense of harmony between her words. The principal's admiration and pride as a Banqiao school teacher.

Last year, we also wanted to build a "food education culture". Considering that the integration of primary and secondary schools was not enough and the requirements were different, it would be very difficult to implement, so we gave up for the time being. But we have always kept "food education culture" in mind, and we will just wait for the time to come and put it on the agenda as soon as possible.

Regarding the advantages of "food education culture" in rural primary and secondary schools, I have the following understandings:

First, the canteen is also a classroom, and students learn knowledge not only by sitting in the classroom. There are classes and knowledge everywhere inside and outside the school. The cafeteria is a place that students yearn for and stay there for a long time, so it naturally becomes another classroom for learning knowledge.

Second, the canteen building itself and the rich wall charts, slogans and other cultural arrangements in the canteen play a subtle educational role in the students. At the same time, they can also serve as a vivid venue for teachers to educate students on thrift and scientific nutrition.

Third, the canteen is an important place for students to conduct regular behavioral education and civilized etiquette education. If a person is rude, he will not be able to stand up. Our country is a country of traditional etiquette and has always paid great attention to table manners. Many etiquettes have been passed down from ancient times to the present, and have profoundly influenced generations of Chinese people. In today's increasingly fast-paced world, we must inherit China's excellent traditional etiquette culture.

The fourth is to combine food education culture with labor education. For example, our Zundao School has a Daobo planting base. Under the guidance of teachers, the children plowed the land, sown seeds, fertilized, watered, and weeded, and harvested numerous fruits through hard work. These harvests are recycled by the canteen at market prices and become delicacies on the children's tables. I think we can combine these two aspects, and we can educate and train children using emotion, science, and labor as the link.

Fifth, the canteen can also be used as an experience base for children. For example, every year we organize students to carry out dumpling-making activities in the cafeteria. In the past, we only organized students to make dumplings for the purpose of reducing student stress, which was equivalent to a psychological counseling session. But now we can combine it with food education and cultural education, which will definitely achieve better and richer educational results.

The above five points are my initial superficial understanding. When we truly implement the food education culture, we can conduct better in-depth discussions to better guide our educational work.
