His name is Jon
Jindai. He was born in a very poor but beautiful village in northern Thailand. People are only busy for two months in a year: one month to sow rice and one month to harvest rice.
At other times, I just go fishing, drop in and chat. Life is very simple.
In this environment, Jon
Jindai has grown from a carefree child to a young diaosi. The young people in the village all went to the big cities to pursue "success", and Jon couldn't sit still, so he went to Bangkok to become a "drifter".
Confucius said that knowledge changed fate. With the help of Thai monks, Jon, who had accumulated a certain amount of knowledge, came to Bangkok to study in a law school, but unfortunately he became a scum-he was too poor and spent a lot of time doing odd jobs outside the school.
After being reduced to a school scum, Jon became an angry youth again: he was crammed into a big room with dozens of people when doing odd jobs, and he could only eat a bowl of Thai noodle soup or fried rice for a meal. He served dishes in restaurants, looked at the gates in hotels, and handed out leaflets in the street, except for being a shemale. Tired like a dog every day, Jon is getting more and more confused-
What kind of life is this? I've had enough!
In this way, after seven years in Bangkok, Jon returned to his hometown and started a new life about 51 kilometers north of Chiang Mai. It never occurred to him that this choice would change his life.
Jon cultivated a wild land and built a vegetable garden of one and a half acres, with fruits and vegetables all year round. I also dug two fish ponds. A family of five can catch fish at any time in a year. If they can't finish eating, they will give it to their neighbors and sell it if they can't finish it.
What makes him most happy is that he has returned to his childhood when he was only busy for two months a year: planting rice for one month and harvesting rice for one month. He harvests four tons of rice a year, but the whole family can't eat half a ton a year and sell the rest.
When I went to Qiu Lai in spring, the flowers faded and blossomed, and Jon lived happily. At this time, he heard that the best student in the class stayed in Bangkok and bought a house, but he was in debt for 31 years.
The news almost made Jon pee: It's a good thing that Lao Zi didn't stay in the city. A scum like me can't buy a house in 311 years!
"It takes only one night for a mouse to dig a hole, but it takes only two days for a bird to build a nest. Why do humans have to spend half their lives building a house? Compared with animals, are humans advanced or retarded? "
after deep thinking, he decided to build the house by himself!
Jon has enough land and time at this time, but he still has no money. But it doesn't matter, he taught himself the technology of building houses with adobe, and he worked from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock every morning for two hours. In less than three months, a house was built.
Since then, Jon has built at least one house every year. Now he has built more than a dozen houses on his farm, each of which is a manor house. Every night, he has to think about which one to spend the night in.
after building the house, Jon became interested in decorating again. Egged on by a few artistic friends, he created a unique bathroom-gradually, Jon's adobe building skills became famous, and the scale of the farm became larger and larger. He simply set up his own farm brand: Pun Pun Organic Farm. Many people came to learn from the scriptures. Jon, who once hated going to school most, became a teacher, preaching and explaining how to open up wasteland and cultivate land. Students, remember not to use any pesticides and fertilizers ... not only the villagers nearby, but also the studious young people from Holland and America. They can't worship Jon's organic life concept and adobe building skills. There are too many people to solve the problem of eating. Jon accidentally opened two organic restaurants and set up his own Thai farmhouse. People are here to discuss health preservation and enjoy organic food. Others practiced yoga in Jon's self-built house, accompanied by the flowers outside the window-at this moment, the Thai farmer ushered in a transnational love. Among a group of friends from Europe and America, Jon attracted Peggy Reents from Colorado, USA with unique charm. The two married, and then there was the crystallization of love. This once scum and diaosi now has a foreign daughter-in-law and a mixed-blood son-there is such an inspirational and bizarre story in the suburbs of Chiang Mai? The TV station in Thailand can't sit still. Come and interview this Thai Oba! Jon, who has a vast world and great achievements, also attracts the attention of international scholars. Josh Kearns of the University of Colorado came to ask how to make charcoal with traditional materials-
Later, Jon received an invitation from the famous TED conference, and his American daughter-in-law told him that you should practice your English well and don't lose face on the international stage.
So, this Thai farmer used fluent English to deliver a keynote speech on "Life should be simple, why do you live so hard?", which won laughter and applause, but in the end, it left people with long-term reflection and silence-
(Thai farmers speak English so well, why do we have to watch Chinese subtitles? )
Now, based on Jon's farm, a "Utopia" with more than 31 members has been formed, half of which are Thai, mainly Jon's relatives; The other half are westerners, who not only follow Jon to live a rural life and eat organic vegetables, but also work for Jon's organic restaurant.
Jon, who got mixed up in a big city, became a community leader and a winner in life in another place.
We grow vegetables and farmland here, study organic plants, promote the concept of self-sufficiency and sustainable life, and devote ourselves to local environmental protection.
Jon now likes to think about life in the fields:
Thanks to listening to his heart, he can live today!
