Classic self-guided tour route in Wuyuan, Jiangxi: The hiking route from Tuochuan to Hongguan to Guangkeng is well worth a walk. The scenery along the way cannot be enjoyed by car.

And the road is not difficult to walk. Along the stone road, listening to the gurgling water of the creek next to you, seeing the terraced villages looming through the clouds and mist, and the singing of birds, it is an indescribable enjoyment.

There are no forks in the route from Hongguan to Guankeng. You first go to Lingjiao Village, then go east along the stone road and climb over a hill.

The scenery along the way is good, with streams and small waterfalls accompanying it, and it takes about two hours.

The Tuochuan-Hongguan route is a bit complicated, with many side roads, so you can make sure you follow the markings on the map.

(The owner of Likeng Yunxi Villa will draw you a route map. My map is based on the correction he gave you.) It should be noted that there is no stone road from the forest farm to Zhoujiashan, so you have to take a small road to climb the mountain.

However, although the road is a little harder to walk, it is much closer. This is how I walked.

The intersection of going up the mountain is at the first stone arch bridge on the road from the forest farm to Baishikeng. There is an overhead aqueduct crossing the road. Go up the mountain on the right hand side of the road. Climb along the path to the top of the mountain and then go down for a while. You will see a

The small village is called Zhoujiashan.

Go up the mountain along the main road in the village (the stone road), turn right at a big pine tree or a camellia tree split in half (shaped like an arch) and continue walking along the dirt road until you see the stone road, then follow the stone road

Going down the mountain, the small village at the foot of the mountain is called Waiyankeng. Across the river is Hongguan. There is a thousand-year-old camphor tree at the entrance of the village. It is easy to find. You can recognize it from the mountain. You can escape the fare by entering the village from the playground of the primary school.

The road in Zhoujiashan is difficult to find and walk, and it is easy to get lost.

If you want to be safer, you can go up the mountain from Baishikeng and follow the stone road. After passing the pavilion, take the road on the left hand side and go down the mountain (the other road is to Zhoujiashan).

It takes about 3 to 4 hours from Tuochuan to Hongguan.

(I walked on a rainy day, so the time estimate may not be accurate. If the weather is good, it should be faster.) If you are pressed for time, you can consider walking from Guankeng to Lingjiao, Hongguan and then to Likeng. Tuochuan can be completed in one day: starting from

Take a car up at dawn and see Duanxin Reservoir on the car. Go up the mountain to Guankeng at noon and stay in Likeng or Tuochuan in the evening.

There is nothing interesting to see in Lingjiao Village. Wuchu Branch is far away and you have to climb a mountain. There is only one camphor tree in Hongguan, so you can just pass by and take a look.

(There is only one shuttle bus to and from Guankeng every day, arriving at about 12:30.) If you have enough time, stay one night at Zhan Dayou's place in Hongguan. The old house is nice and the owner is also nice.
