1. Story about the bridge (1):
In ancient times, the place about Xianren Bridge was called Bailongjian, and its bottom was unfathomable. Six white dragons were entrenched here, doing evil and making waves. Every year, the local people send sacrifices to boys and girls, cattle and sheep, which is a little careless. In winter, there is a strong wind, and in summer, there is a heavy rain, and disasters continue, and people are everywhere. Local people go up the mountain to get firewood. If they go into Bailong Cave by mistake, it will become the food of six Bailong. He Xiangu, who was practicing in the Golden Pavilion Mountain, saw it in her eyes and was angry in her heart. Regardless of her shallow practice, she decided to do harm for the people. He Xiangu and six white dragons fought from the ground into the air, from the mountain to the foot, until it was dark. After fighting for 7749 days for a whole year, six dragons fled into the deep-water stream in defeat. He Xiangu pulled out a peach hedge from his waist, fished out six white dragons, and set them on the white dragon stream for people to pass up the mountain. Over time, six white dragons became six stone floating frames between two cliffs. People named it Xianren Bridge to commemorate He Xiangu's efforts to save the people. The origin of "Tengqiao" was as early as before the Ming Dynasty, and Tengqiao was already an important passage from Fuzhou to Fujian and Guangdong. At that time, there were several small villages scattered on both sides of the road, such as Xikeng Guo, Hanqiaokou, Zhangjiakou, Charming Garden, Yangjiaxiang and Qiujiapai. During the Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty, Roche moved here again. Due to the rapid population growth, the village gradually expanded, and gradually became a larger village with small villages such as Qiujiapai and Hanqiaokou. At that time, there was a small river in front of the village, and there was a wooden bridge on the river for people to pass by. There is a huge maple tree next to the wooden bridge, and Ficus pumila vines are attached to it. Later, with the flourishing of Ficus pumila vines, many vines fluttered in the wind and wrapped around the bridge. Therefore, pedestrians call this place "Tengqiao Village". Once, a governor rode by this bridge, and suddenly he tripped over the vines beside the bridge, and all his men and women fell into the river under the bridge. When asked about the place name "Tengqiao" village, the official said that the water and grass here were unfavorable, so they all went there and changed the water to "horse", which is the word "Teng". "Tengqiao" got its name from this.
2. Story about Bridge (2):
In the past, Jiuxianqiao area in the eastern suburb of Beijing was a desolate place. From the nearby place names such as Liugong Tomb and Wangye Tomb, we can know that it used to be a graveyard for dignitaries. 21 years ago, I saw a remnant tablet by the river of Jiuxian Bridge. The base of the tombstone was a beautifully carved turtle. The stele and the pedestal have been separated and there is a distance of several meters. The left side of the remnant stele is in Manchu, and the right side is in Chinese. I don't know Manchu. From the incomplete Chinese characters, we can still find such a sentence: "I am very sorry for the first-class elite ...". It can be seen that the owner of the grave is not an ordinary person. There is a story about the origin of the name of the bridge. Once upon a time, there was no Lugou Bridge, but only a ferry. A Shanxi man named Lu was doing business near the ferry, and his business was very prosperous. One autumn, with money, he took Tian's ferry boat to go back to his hometown to visit relatives. Unexpectedly, when Tian saw that Lu had a lot of money, he had a bad heart, drowned Lu in Yongding River, took the silver dollar for himself and started a business. The following year, Tian gave birth to a son. When his son was 11 years old, he had to hit Tian three times a day, and he would cry if he didn't. Tian was very upset and asked the old monk for advice. The old monk said to Tian, your son was reincarnated from the murdered Lushi and will settle accounts with you. Hearing this, Tian panicked and begged the old monk for mercy and help. The old monk said, "It's not difficult to save you, as long as you take out all the money you robbed and build a bridge so that passers-by will no longer be harmed by you people." Tian listened to the old monk's words and invited many craftsmen to build a bridge. After the bridge was repaired, Tian asked the old monk for the name of the bridge. The old monk smiled and said, "You are paying Lu's debt. I think it is called Lugou Bridge." The legend of Lugou Bridge has been passed down to this day.
