Tianjin Road, Qingdao City

At the eastern end of Tianjin Road and at the intersection of Zhongshan Road is the Chunhelou Hotel.

There are two theories about the history of this hotel: one is that there was a hotel in Dabaodao Village in the late Qing Dynasty. After Qingdao was established as a city, a two-story building was built on the same site called "Chunhe Building", so there is "first there"

Chunhe Building was later called "Qingdao Port", so in the 1990s the store celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Another theory is that Tianjin wealthy businessman Zhu Zixing (one of the founders of Qiyan Guild Hall) funded the construction. In the early days, it was Tianjin style. Later, Lin Chongfu, a native of Fushan, was hired as the manager. He became famous for his Shandong and Jiaodong cuisine, and became one of Qingdao's "Four Famous Restaurants"

For one, its crispy chicken, silver rolls and crystal buns that have been handed down to this day are still Tianjin flavors.

After liberation, several Shandong cuisine restaurants were merged into Chunhe Building in a public-private partnership. It subsequently expanded its stores and became a famous Shandong cuisine restaurant in the island city and throughout the country.

"Chinese Famous Recipes" includes its special dishes such as "Grilled Abalone in Unshell", "Poached Scallops", "Anchovy Shrimp", etc. The "Qingdao Top Ten Scenery" dishes they designed have won awards in competitions.

Liu Zishan, once the richest man in Qingdao, built the Donglai Bank Building at the intersection of Tianjin Road and Henan Road.

It has a good reputation, with its head office in Qingdao, branches in Jinan, Shanghai, Tianjin and Dalian, and special agents in all major commercial ports.

After liberation, he served as deputy manager of China Public-Private Joint Bank.

Qingdao Hotel (Japan), etc.

Among them, Donghua Hotel was once a famous hotel. Its advertisement stated: "A newly built four-story Western-style building has more than 100 large and small guest rooms, air chairs (sofas) and iron beds, all equipped with clothes, mirrors and basins, a banquet living room,

The large Western dining room is spacious and elegant, and is equipped with table, piano, entertainment and other equipment. The chefs are all masters from the north and the south, and famous craftsmen from Europe and the West. Chinese banquets and Western feasts..." Wang Shugong said: Donghua Hotel and Chunhe

The buildings were all initiated and funded by Tianjin wealthy businessman Zhu Zixing.

He hired Wang Yuting from Tianjin as the manager of Donghua Hotel.

Zhu Zixing had a close relationship with Liu Tingchen, a legacy of the former Qing Dynasty.

Liu Tingchen, a calligrapher, had a peculiar quirk. Those who asked for calligraphy had to treat themselves to guests at the Donghua Hotel, and hired prostitutes to prepare wine and serve the ink. The wine would be strong before they could start writing.

Therefore, Liu Tingchen helped the business of Donghua Hotel.

Some Chinese dignitaries do not want to stay in European and American hotels when they come to Qingdao, so they prefer Donghua Hotel. For example, Zhang Xueliang stayed here when he came to Qingdao.

Yuelai Inn at the west end of Tianjin Road is a Chinese-style inn, which is lower grade than Donghua Hotel, but most of the rooms are single or double rooms, which is higher than ordinary inns with large rooms.

The famous writer Meng Chao, one of the founders of the "Left-Left Alliance", was engaged in revolutionary literature and art work in Shanghai in his early years. Every time he returned to his hometown in Zhucheng and changed trains in Qingdao, he stayed at Yuelaizhan.

In the essay "Before and After Cherry Blossoms", he wrote: "I got off the ship and walked into an inn where I had stayed before. 'Come, come, want to see the cherry blossoms?' The accountant at the inn also looked a bit like the one by the West Lake

His ordinary answers were as rich as those of a woodcutter, and were slightly poetic. "Zhu Daonan, a revolutionary young man in Jinan, and others went to participate in the Northern Expedition via Qingdao. Wang Hongren of Qingdao Times arranged for them to stay in Yue.

Under the pseudonym Jia Youfu, he used his identity as a businessman as a cover and wrote behind closed doors. He translated Engels's "The Housing Problem" and Ouslund's "The Biography of Nietzsche", etc., and created the novella "At No. 2 Albert Street".

When Qingdao was liberated on June 2, 1949, Jia Zhifang wrote the prose "Beautiful Morning" and "Welcome to the People's Liberation Army", which were published in Shanghai's "Ta Kung Pao". This is also the only prose work about the liberation of Qingdao.
