When driving on a slippery road, the driver must leave a sufficient safety distance in advance, and when braking, try to apply the brakes gradually, and then gradually increase the braking force after the vehicle speed drops.
This traffic accident occurred in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province. Multiple vehicles collided and one vehicle drifted laterally for dozens of meters. The scene was heart-wrenching.
On the morning of January 20, in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, it was reported on the Internet that due to icy roads, a tragic car accident occurred on the Shimenzhai connection line. About a dozen vehicles collided. The scene was even more shocking.
The white car drove up and realized there was an accident ahead, so it hit the brakes. As a result, the car "drifted" for tens of meters, spun in a circle on the road, and finally hit the car in front of the accident.
Then another car hit the accident vehicle in front one after another.
Eyewitnesses said that because it rained a little last night, the roadside was icy and slippery, and the road was rugged, so the car lost control when passing by.
The accident is currently under further processing.
What should you do if you encounter icy roads?
1. When driving, increase the distance from the vehicle in front and brake in advance.
Because when a vehicle is driving on icy roads, the braking distance of the vehicle will be longer than the braking distance on dry roads.
2. Check the road traffic conditions in time before driving, and try to avoid driving during periods or road sections that are prone to freezing.
If you encounter an early warning, you should choose a detour route in advance.
Periods prone to freezing: The outdoor temperature is low at night and early in the morning, especially on unconnected highway bridges, viaducts and other sections that are prone to freezing. Please minimize travel at night and early in the morning.
Road sections prone to ice formation: In winter, dark and humid places, under overpasses, and tunnel entrances are prone to ice formation. Thin ice is even more dangerous, so be extra careful and drive slowly.
3. If visibility is poor, or when snow is falling, you should turn on the front and rear fog lights so that others can spot you in time.
However, if the visibility is relatively good, or it is sunny after snow, the fog lights should be turned off to avoid irritating the eyes of the drivers in front and behind and causing an accident.
4. It is best to keep the vehicle running in a straight line at a constant speed during driving. In ice and snow weather, the driver should turn the steering wheel slowly, apply the accelerator and brake gently, and avoid excessive movements.
In icy and snowy weather, drivers must pay attention to road conditions.
The same section of road may have different wet and slippery conditions due to different yin and sun surfaces and different intensity of sunlight.
Especially when turning into a shady road, you should slow down and be mentally prepared to be on guard against unexpected ice.
5. When braking on icy and snowy roads, including downhill, use lower gears as much as possible to control the vehicle speed, and use the resistive gear to reduce the tire speed.
For automatic transmission vehicles, the driver can force the gear down from D to 2nd or 1st gear.
Snowy days in winter are the period when accidents are most likely to occur. When using a car, everyone must increase their safety awareness and make relevant preparations.
I would like to remind drivers in the south that if you drive to the north in winter, you should pay more attention to prevent accidents due to lack of experience in bad weather.
