Canada is located in the mountains of Banff National Park in Alberta. I love nature. These mountains are so beautiful and magnificent. The water is so calm and clear. Flowers and animals are quiet except bears. It's interesting to cross the mountains in the west by train. I like to explore small towns in Canada when I go on holiday.
Canada plays an active role in international affairs, often participates in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, and takes the lead in developing aid and development projects. Its mountains, oceans, forests and grasslands are very spectacular. It has an active and rich culture and many world-famous actors, pop stars and writers. In the annual "Quality of Life" survey conducted by the United Nations, Canada is often rated as the country with the highest living standard in the world because of its medical care, education, clean environment, social welfare and so on.
Compared with its land area, economic strength and international prestige, Canada has a small population. The population now is a little over 30 million? Almost equivalent to two Beijing cities! There are a few people living in a very large and resource-rich area. This contradiction has caused some misunderstandings about Canada.
Most people don't know much about Canada. When it comes to this country, one of two images usually comes to mind. On the one hand, you may imagine a sparsely populated and freezing country, where people live in igloos, eat fish, hunt bears, and constantly endure snow and cold. On the other hand, you may think that Canada is a country "just like the United States", and even Americans tend to think that Canada is the 5th1th state of the United States. It is a part of the United States, but for some historical reasons, it is not a part (or more) of the United States.
It is easy to understand how this misleading impression of Canada is deeply rooted. Indeed, most of Canada is located in the far north. Most parts of this country are wild, almost uninhabited Arctic tundra, full of dangerous animals and freezing temperatures. But most Canadians live in the south of the country, along the 49th parallel: it is estimated that about 90% of the population lives within a few hundred kilometers of the Canada-US border, where the climate is far from extreme.
