I accidentally browsed on the Internet and found that going to Huaihua, Hunan in winter is also a good choice. The ancient villages are scattered and the ancient city is long, avoiding the hustle and bustle of commercialization. It is a quiet and comfortable place.

So I made an appointment with some friends and went on a winter self-driving trip to Huaihua.

The four-day self-driving trip to Huaihua left a deep impression on me. I became more interested in Huaihua and Hunan.

The self-driving trip in Huaihua started from Xupu County, starting from the Xuefeng Mountains and walking into Huaihua. I experienced the customs of Huaihua ethnic minorities for the first time at Fengxiang Yao Village; then I drove to Tongdong County in the south and experienced the Dong people’s gathering feast.

B&Bs and restaurants transformed from ancient Yao villages avoid the impetuousness of daily life. No wonder the ancients chose to retreat to the mountains and forests to live in seclusion. This feeling of isolation, self-sufficiency, and intoxication with nature shouldn't be too wonderful.

So we arranged our first stop in Huaihua here. After checking into the room and putting down our luggage, we started the tour.

The architecture in Yao Village is primitive and simple, and the courtyard-shaped village is a bit like the square earth building pattern in Fujian. The traces of time are clearly visible, which really touches my aesthetic taste.

Local people wearing traditional costumes sell some Yao specialty products and local specialties in the village. As you walk around, you can accidentally find your favorite small items, which are full of Yao customs.

If you want to say where the Internet celebrity of Fengxiang Yaozhai is checking in, then it must be the infinity swimming pool of Yaozhai.

The swimming pool built on the mountainside is like a fairyland in a fairyland, connected to the sky and boundless.

The water here is half cold spring and half hot spring, so whether it is summer or winter, you can take a variety of beautiful photos in the water.

Not far from Fengxiang Yaozhai is Chuanyanshan National Forest Park, which both belong to the Xuefengshan tourist attraction.

After playing for a long time, I returned to Fengxiang Yao Village a little tired. The banquet in the village suddenly made my whole body active again.

The courtyard is filled with square tables to entertain tourists from far and wide. The delicious food of the Yao people and the good wine here make everyone immersed in the delicious food.

After dinner, the ensuing bonfire party and folk performances pushed the atmosphere of the village to the highest point. Every tourist participated, holding hands and dancing and singing around the bonfire. They were all very happy.

After resting for one night in Fengxiang Yao Village, we set off for Tongtong County the next day.

On the way from Xupu County to Tongtong County, we walked through the mountains most of the time, and it was almost evening when we arrived in Tongtong County.

In the Dong Village, the imperial capital, a kind of dinner with Dong characteristics is waiting for us, that is, the gathering banquet.

Eating a "closed banquet" is a manifestation of the Dong people's hospitality and a unique way for the Dong people to entertain guests.
