Wuchang rice is a geographical indication product recognized by AQSIQ and is considered as one of the best rice in China.
Why is it good? Because of the following points:
1, rice features: fresh and oily, soft and moderate, mellow and long, rich in nutrition, light and slightly sweet, soft and slightly sticky, the surface of rice grains is bright, and leftovers do not return.
2. Terrain and climate: Wuchang is adjacent to the southern end of Songnen Plain and the Japanese Strait in the east. The rice planting area is an open basin surrounded by mountains on three sides. From August to September, when the rice is ripe, the sunshine is sufficient, and the temperature difference between day and night is obviously widened, which makes the rice mature quite intensively and accumulates a lot of dry matter.
3. Water source: Two mountain spring rivers, Mangniu River and Lalin River, which originate from Zhangguangcailing and Fenghuang Mountain, pass through more than 2 million mu of rice fields in Wuchang, and 90% of the rice area is irrigated by mountain spring water.
4. Soil: The soil in Wuchang rice area is rich in organic matter, and the residue of harmful substances is low. The soil types of rice production are mainly meadow soil, peat soil, paddy soil and fluvo-aquic soil, which are rich in mineral elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. There are few pests and diseases, which reduces the amount of pesticides and fertilizers. The soil has a PH value of 6-7 and contains 3%-5% organic matter. The soil has good structure, strong air permeability, complete oxygen and many nutrients entering rice.
5. Sunshine: there is plenty of sunshine, and the sunshine time in the growing period is long, with 2600 hours. The sunshine can reach 10 hour in the key season of rice growth, which meets the demand of high-quality rice for light. Once a year, the growth period is about 140 days.
There is no smog weather and sauna days in Wuchang area, and the sunshine is very good. The large temperature difference between day and night is beneficial to the nutrient accumulation of Wuchang rice. Due to the large temperature difference between day and night in mature rice producing areas, soluble double-stranded sugar in rice is very beneficial to health.
Historical origin of Wuchang rice
The history of Wuchang rice can be traced back to the early Tang Dynasty (the middle of the 7th century) when farmers planted rice in Wuchang.
In the 10th year of Qianlong (1745), the Qing government assigned 1000 banners to settle in Lalin area of Wuchang. In the 15th year of Daoguang reign of Qing Dynasty (1835), the army of Jilin General recruited some Koreans to plant rice in Wuchang area, and after harvesting, they used a stone mill to make rice, named Gong Mi, which was specially sent to Beijing for the royal family to enjoy.
In the fourth year of Xianfeng (1854), the Qing government established five local festivals of "benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and honesty". In the name of "benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and faith" in the "three cardinal guides and five permanent members", this place was called the five permanent members, and then a flag officer was sent to command the five permanent members and set up an official position.
After the founding of New China, the rice planting area in wuchang city has been expanding and the yield per unit area has been increasing. Rice cultivation technology has formed a unique "five permanent models", which enjoys a good reputation both inside and outside the province.
In 1950s, Wuchang's rice area reached nearly 6,543,800 mu, and it gradually became the first rice producing county in China.
Since 1990s, Wuchang has cultivated a series of rice seeds suitable for planting in this area, such as Una rice and Songjing rice, and adopted a period of super-dry seedling raising and dry seedling raising cultivation techniques with Wuchang characteristics.
1993, Tian Yongtai, the stationmaster of agricultural technology extension station in Longfengshan Township, wuchang city City, Heilongjiang Province, found a rice plant with 12 panicles in the field, and used it as a seed to plant twelve ridges of rice. When the rice is about to mature, the rice field blown by the wind will give off a fragrant smell, so it is named "Daoxiang", which is a fine rice seed with one million variations.
Nine times out of ten, the rice planted in Wuchang Rentian is "Daohuaxiang 2" cultivated by Tian Yongtai.
In April 2006, Yuan Longping, the "father of rice hybridization", visited wuchang city, Harbin.
In 20 13, wuchang city applied for the national agricultural comprehensive standardization demonstration city project and was approved.
In 20 14, wuchang city declared "Wuchang rice" as a national famous brand to create a demonstration zone, which was approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on 20 15. The national famous brand demonstration zone is exclusive, and Wuchang has become the only brand demonstration zone in the national rice geographical indication protection products.
In the same year, "Wuchang Rice" was included in the China Geographical Indications Ceremony, and the AQSIQ exchanged the geographical indication product standards between Wuchang Rice and the European Union, which set up a new platform for Wuchang Rice to enter the European and American markets.
201818 on February 7th, in order to further purify the marketing environment of Wuchang rice and protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, Geng Jun, director of the wuchang city Municipal Market Supervision Administration, announced the Implementation Plan for the Special Renovation Action of Wuchang Rice, and the relevant person in charge of wuchang city Rice Association read the Proposal for the Brand Protection of Wuchang Rice.
