Tonghua normal College is located in Tonghua City, Jilin Province, at the foot of Changbai Mountain, along the Yalu River and at the border between China and North Korea. It is the only provincial undergraduate college in the southeast of Jilin Province.

Tonghua normal College, the predecessor of tonghua normal College, was founded in 1958, and was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 1978.
