In 1943, Luan Xuetang opened "Fengze Garden" at the Shanghai International Hotel.
?Fengzeyuan operates Shandong cuisine. Master Wang Yijun once said that the seasonings are: ?soy sauce, cooking wine, vinegar; salt, sugar, garlic, and Ajinomoto.
Fengzeyuan is located on Meishi Street and is a rising star among the "Three Heroes". Their "Steamed Duck Liver" is not only delicious but also beautiful.
The large porcelain plates on which the dishes are served are either white and blue and white, or imitate the five colors of Qianlong's reign. The plates are covered with a polished silver lid.
As soon as the dish is on the table and the lid is lifted, the duck livers are cut in half and stand upright, arranged neatly.

The seats in the restaurant are changed according to the season, with winter velvet and summer vines; the countertops are novel in design and surrounded by silver inlays; the tableware is all silverware, and there are colorful wine vessels from the Kangxi, Qianlong and Guangxu years, which are very valuable.
As soon as the restaurant opened, it targeted the upper class and hired famous chefs to cook the dishes. The dishes were carefully selected and made carefully, and were delicious and fragrant. It became a good place for dignitaries, social sages and celebrities in the capital.

By the late 1930s, Fengzeyuan had developed into the largest and most famous restaurant in Beijing.
Due to the booming business, Fengzeyuan opened branches in Yantai, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Kaifeng and other places.
Luan Xuetang, the founder of Fengzeyuan, a Shandong fellow, also opened restaurants in Hong Kong, Paris and other places under the name "Fengze". Some were called Fengze Building, and some were called Fengzeyuan.
For a time, Fengzeyuan's reputation not only spread throughout Beijing, but also became famous overseas.
