The traditional foods of the Cold Food Festival include: green dumplings, cold porridge, five-color glutinous rice, sowed seeds, and plain seeds.
1. Qingtuan
Qingtuan is a traditional snack in the southern region. The Qingtuan color is like jasper, which is soft and sticky, sweet but not greasy, fat but not rancid, with a light but long grass aroma. Nowadays, the Youth League is not only a festive food, but also the epitome of many people's childhood memories and the sustenance of their hometown emotions.
2. Cold porridge
During the Cold Food Festival, people do not smoke and fire, so they need to prepare cold food such as barley porridge. This cold porridge is a holiday diet handed down because of the Cold Food Festival. There are many kinds of cold porridge, such as yanghua porridge, plum blossom porridge, apricot cheese, winter ling, peach blossom porridge, dried porridge and barley porridge.
3. Five-color glutinous rice
Five-color glutinous rice is a traditional snack in Buyi and Zhuang areas. Named for its five colors of black, red, yellow, white and purple, the Zhuang family loves the five-color glutinous rice very much and regards it as a symbol of good luck and good harvest.
4. Sprinkle seeds
Zanzi is a kind of fried food, crispy and exquisite. Scorpion was called "cold utensil" in ancient times, but it is different between the north and the south: the northern scorpion is mainly made of wheat flour, which is generous and free and easy, while the southern scorpion is mainly made of rice flour, which is exquisite and meticulous. In ethnic minority areas, there are many kinds of prickly heat with different flavors, especially those of Uygur, Dongxiang, Naxi and Ningxia Hui.
5. Puziguo
Puziguo is grass green and sweet. Generally, there are two kinds of common seeds: plum blossom type and peach type. Steamed seeds are grass green, and there is a unique herbal fragrance of leaves. Steamed seeds are like blooming flowers.
