The Railway College of Central South University (formerly Changsha Railway College) was formerly the Central South Institute of Architecture and Engineering, which was formed by the merger of the railway majors of Wuhan University, Hunan University, Xue Nan University, Yunnan University and South China University of Technology in the 1953 department adjustment. 1958, Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to change the name of the former Central South College from 1959 to Hunan University. 1960 September 15 is based on the three departments of railway architecture, railway transportation, bridges and tunnels of Hunan University, and the Railway College is directly under the Ministry of Railways. In 2000, according to the central decision, Central South University of Technology, Hunan Medical University and Changsha Railway Institute merged into Central South University.
