The Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the cultural relics departments of Zhejiang and Hangzhou jointly carried out archaeological excavations on the imperial kiln site in the Southern Song Dynasty.
After half a year's thorough excavation, 22 trench explorations and excavations were carried out:
The excavation area is 1400 m2. Mud ponds, vegetarian stoves, molding workshops, glaze jars and a dragon kiln have been excavated in the Southern Song Dynasty cultural layer about 0.8-2 meters deep from the surface. A large number of physical specimens, such as porcelain pieces and kiln furniture, were unearthed, which unveiled the mystery of the official kiln in the last years of South China for more than 800 years.
