When I was a child, my family was not wealthy. Meat was only available during festivals or when guests came to the house! Fortunately, I have never been greedy for meat since I was a child. I will eat chicken, duck, and fish whenever I can.
Transforming into a foodie is probably a matter of adulthood! When I was a child, I rarely followed my mother to ask for something to eat. Part of the reason is that children from poor families are already sensible, and I don’t want to burden my parents with food; part of the reason is that at that time, food was about filling the stomach, and there were relatively few delicacies, so there was no temptation!
To say that there are very few means that there are exceptions. When I was a kid, the most greedy thing was dough! Because the batter requires more oil to make, I don’t eat it often at home!
However, every summer vacation, the three of us brothers and sisters can eat dough every now and then! For children in the city, summer vacation, apart from school homework, is about relaxing and playing! However, for children who live in rural areas, they have to help their parents do some farm work within their ability!
The farm work that I remember most is going to the cornfield to pull weeds.
Every morning at five or six o'clock, my mother wakes me up. After getting dressed, I go to the cornfield with my sister and brother! Be sure to dress neatly, because if corn leaves scratch your arms or legs, a red mark will appear, which is not only ugly, but also painful!
When I was a child, I was timid and had to pull weeds side by side with my sisters and brothers! The corns grow taller than people, and when I dig into the cornfield, I can hardly see anyone. When I can’t see anyone, I always feel like some kind of ghost will appear!
There is a problem with pulling weeds side by side with my sister and brother. I am young, and I am a chronic person, so I am slow to do farm work! So, many times, the three of us started side by side on the ground, and slowly, I fell behind them! My family has a piece of third-level land, which is about three to four hundred meters long. Many times, when the weeding is halfway done, I am left alone in the middle of the field, because my sister and brother have already pulled the weeds to the end and then turn around in another row. Pull it back!
So, in order to keep in sync, I pulled weeds in the row between my sisters and brothers. That way, my sisters and brothers could reach out to my row to help me pull weeds!
We usually pull weeds in the fields until we go home at ninety o'clock! The first thing we do when we get home is take a shower. There is heavy dew in the cornfield in the morning, and our clothes are usually wet. In addition, the soil and grass blades brought out by pulling weeds, so there will be dew, soil, grass blades, and sweat on our bodies. wait!
After taking a bath, you can eat. At this time, mother usually fry a large plate of batter for us! The three of us spread out a mat under the fan, each holding a small plate of batter in our hands. We didn't eat any vegetables, just the batter. We felt like life was so wonderful!
A while ago, my sister and I were reminiscing about eating dough in our childhood, so we made one ourselves! However, the taste was wrong and I didn’t want to eat it after two bites!
Carefully recall what my mother did: first mix the flour, eggs, and water, add an appropriate amount of salt, and make it into a batter; then heat the iron pot and pour in the new soybean oil pressed from the soybeans in your own field; Finally, when the oil is hot, scoop a ladle of batter into the pan, spread it evenly with a spatula, and fry both sides until golden!
After recalling what my mother did, I felt that my own method was fine. Even the oil was made from soybean oil brought back from my hometown! But I can't taste the taste in my memory...
