The emerging inspiration gave me the following three main shapes.

The hairstyle gives the impression of rice noodles (flat rice noodles)

The weapon gives the impression of chopsticks

The coat and collar give the impression of rice bowls

It is also part of the design process to think about rough color matching while drawing the manuscript. In my mind, I will help the clothes to match colors while making a composition.

if I think the color is too dull, I will add decorations such as bags, gadgets, weapons and toys, and think about how to arrange the color of each item.

in addition, I have to consider the material of clothes to determine the kind of wrinkles. Basically, if there are few wrinkles, it means that the clothes are made of thicker materials.

if you want to draw the details later, it will be better to decide the material or material (leather, cotton cloth, etc.) first.

In this design, in order not to make viewers feel that the girl is wearing ordinary close-fitting clothes and white sweatshirts, I will also think about what the jacket looks like. The girl's jacket is designed into a large size with rich details, and the inside is a close-fitting simple dress, which can show her figure without a jacket. This will create a contrast and look more handsome.

Before I was born, my father began to buy and subscribe to this publication with strong humanistic atmosphere and rich content. As a popular periodical, there are not only good articles, but also many high-level illustrations, oil paintings, photography and art appreciation. From the beginning, preschool children enjoyed leafing through books and illustrations, to later reading, reading and learning the article writing. The process of leafing, reading and reading The Reader lasted from the age of three or four until I graduated from high school.

When I was a child, I liked to read the illustrations in Reader magazine, most of which were black and white line paintings. But what I like best among them is the works of the painter Velco. His paintings are full of Zen and philosophy, and a few strokes will outline a painting full of charm and philosophy.

most children have a dream of flying, thinking that there are immortals living on the clouds. When I was very young, I saw Velco's illustrations, and I immediately thought that this was what the world looked like on the clouds, ethereal, distant and dense, and it was visualized by Dr. Velco's seemingly simple brushstrokes.

Velco himself is not a professional painter, but a cardiologist working in Harbin Institute of Technology Hospital. Many times his paintings are drawn on prescriptions, and sometimes they are painted on abandoned diagnosis books. Because he is a doctor, he can write Latin in illustrations, and many people will think he is a foreigner when they look at his name. However, Dr. Wei's English is really excellent. He often asks his colleagues to test himself with a big book full of complicated medical terms, because he remembers that he can even discuss drama theory with others in English.

The colors of Velco's paintings are simple, and the lines are simple and smooth. Perhaps it is because of the doctor's instinct that he can accurately depict the human body.

His paintings not only have the freehand brushwork and Zen connotation of Chinese landscape, but also have the profound insight in disorder like western abstract paintings.

Reader magazine once held an illustration design competition. I can't remember where Velco's paintings won, but I remember clearly that Reader published an interview with Velco. Only then did I know that the painter turned out to be a doctor.

Velco said that when he was on duty or when he was free, he took a prescription paper to draw, which was very casual. He drew whatever he thought. He liked to draw two strokes at will since he was a child, and later he became a doctor, and this hobby continued. He is very grateful for the cooperation with Reader magazine and the love of readers.

Perhaps because of the doctor's career, Velco's paintings always show compassion and warmth. Sometimes there will be one or two details in the lonely picture, which will make you feel warm and comfortable.

In p>27, I was just a senior one, and it seems that I haven't seen Dr. Velco's illustrations for some time. Later, an article was published in The Reader, which said that the talented painter Velco had passed away.

The article says: Velco has lung cancer.

Velco himself said that he used a highly irritating corrosive liquid to enhance the smudge effect of his paintings, and painting in this way also did great harm to his health.

But he is still fascinated by it. The ink, psychedelic lines and compassionate graphics that are rendered on paper make it hard for him to give up.

The process of looking at Velco's paintings is intoxicating. At first, I was attracted by the simple and smooth lines, and then I was moved by the sad and melancholy temperament. Later, you felt that the atmosphere of this painting was somewhat familiar, until at last you felt like a traveler walking in a vast wasteland or boundless starry sky, small and full of excitement.

Velco's Sleepwalking Notes, published thirteen years ago, is out of print. It may take some effort to read it again today. Velco is undoubtedly a genius, but he is not withdrawn, and even a little funny.

There is a lot of Zen in his paintings. Later, Velco became ill, and he also converted to Buddhism. Perhaps this is an arrangement.

August 29th this year marks the 1th anniversary of Dr. Velco's death. As a reader who loved Velco's illustrations since childhood, it happened that this talented illustrator had died for ten years when he wanted to write something.

But I will still look through Velco's works in the past ten years. Even among professional painters, such thoroughness and understanding in his paintings are rare. I think his status as a doctor has given him more understanding and different perspectives.
