About Phoenix Mountain Theme Park

Phoenix Mountain is located in Duofu Town, Xichong County. It is 414 meters above sea level and winds for dozens of miles. It is shaped like a phoenix, hence the name.

There are Shizhai gates built on the east, south and west sides of the mountain. Surrounded by cliffs, it is easy to defend but difficult to attack.

The top of the mountain is flat land, which is the "barracks area" and was once Zhang Xianzhong's camp.

The top of the mountain is called "Flag-Placing Mountain", where the Great Western Army hung its military flag.

The mountains to the east are known as "Arrow Ridges". Legend has it that after Zhang Xianzhong was hit by an arrow in Taiyang Creek during the battle with the Qing army, he died here while being helped back to the command camp by his soldiers.

Zhang Xianzhong, named Bingwu, came from a poor family when he was young. In the third year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, the peasants in Jumizhi No. 18 Village revolted and were named "Eight Kings". From the sixth to the 17th year of Chongzhen, he entered Sichuan five times to fight.

In the first year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Xianzhong led hundreds of thousands of rebel troops to Sichuan for the fifth time, using Fenghuang Mountain as his base camp to fight against the Qing army.

On December 1, the 3rd year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Xianzhong died after being hit by an arrow in Daijian Ridge, Fenghuang Mountain.

Over the years, people in the Phoenix Mountain area have often found relics such as arrowheads, stirrups, broadswords, and iron grass, attracting many tourists to visit and explore the remains of the ancient battlefield.

In 1983, the Xichong County People's Government listed Fenghuang Mountain as a county-level cultural relic protection unit, set up an introduction, set up signs, closed the mountain to nurse seedlings, and built Fenghuang Mountain Scenic Area.

Today, Phoenix Mountain has long been covered with green trees and evergreen pines and cypresses.

Although the ancient battlefield of the past has become history, the sonorous clash of swords and guns, the excitement of people raising their heads and horses neighing, still seem to echo in the minds of tourists.

The central part of Fenghuang Mountain is the famous "Smoke Hidden in Stone Chambers" landscape. There are many sea caves on the mountain where ancient people lived in caves, so it is called "Shishi Rock".

Zen Master Miaoying, a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty, sat in meditation here and often straddled two tame tigers when going in and out, so it is also called Fuhu Rock.

The winding path up Fenghuang Mountain is paved with more than a hundred stone steps. The junipers beside the path are big enough for two people to hug each other. The pines and stones stand like walls, and the cliffs are dotted with inscriptions.

There is a huge stone on the roadside, engraved with the three characters "Fuhuyan" in seal script written by Zuoyue of Song Dynasty, and above it is "Shishiyan Jingshe".

In front of the Jade Emperor's Hall, there is a pair of stone pillars with coiled dragons and eight immortals. They are exquisitely carved and lifelike, and are treasures of stone carving art.

Behind the temple stands a seven-story square brick tower, which is exquisite, simple and unique.

There is a huge stone nearby that stands out from the rocks, about two feet long, and shaped like a tongue, so it is called "Dragon Tongue Stone".

The ancient pines on the mountain grow out of the rocks, with lush branches and leaves, tall and vigorous.

There is a wind-riding pavilion under the pine tree. Visitors come here to take a rest and enjoy the scenery far and near.

Every spring morning and evening, there are often clouds and mist floating among the strange rocks and jungle shrubs, and the green peaks and green trees appear and disappear, so it is known as "the smoke hidden in the stone chamber".

There are also landscapes such as Immortal Traces, Huyuan, Quchi, Kongguan Terrace, Nirvana Terrace, and Haiyin Stone on Shishi Rock, as well as many cliff inscriptions since the Song Dynasty.

About 1 km northwest of Shishi Rock is another famous scenic spot in Fenghuang Mountain, "Zhiquan Pearl Waterfall".

Legend has it that in ancient times, someone was grazing cattle here. Suddenly, a white-haired old man asked him, saying that this place was a vegetable farm for immortals, and the drinking water of cattle polluted the water source.

During the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty, Putian calligrapher and painter Chen Boxian lived in seclusion here and called it Zhiquan. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, He Nanjin, the magistrate of Putian County, came to Su Pavilion.

There are now dozens of large and small stone carvings in the stream, which are cultural relics protected units in Putian City.

There are more than 300 of these ancient cypresses, with thick branches and strong trunks. Although they have experienced hundreds of years of wind, frost, rain and snow, they are still luxuriant and full of vitality.

Among these ancient cypresses, there are 16 pairs of "husband and wife cypresses", 3 "mother and child trees", 1 "Guan Gong tree", 1 pair of "sister cypresses" and 3 "Leida cypresses".

Parasitic trees are very common in Fenghuang Mountain. The most commendable one is that a large yellow oak tree at the northern foot of the mountain parasitizes an ancient cypress. It resembles an affectionate couple, embracing each other. It is jokingly called "Huang Xianggong's hug" by the local people.
