The three-column gate faces the street and has an eight-character wall. Inside the gate is a courtyard and the left and right wing rooms.

The two doors of the building are similar to the screen wall, but open in the middle. There is a couplet written by Li Qizhang, the magistrate of Jintang County in the Qing Dynasty in front of the stone carving: "A lot of erudition can cultivate a good scholar, and you can become a Confucian scholar by relying on benevolence and entertainment." The banner reads "Humanities are on the rise."

Inside the second gate is the second courtyard, with wing rooms on both sides. The middle hall is an external lecture hall, which is where the chief of the meal gives tutorials and also serves as a passing hall.

The last one is the largest courtyard, with self-study rooms for academy students on both sides, and the middle hall is the inner lecture hall, where the dean of the academy gives lectures.

The back hall is the dormitory area for the dean and the chief of the restaurant, forming a small courtyard of its own.

There is a large courtyard on the right side, which is a place for teachers and students to take a walk and rest.

? Xiuchuan Academy was built in the Song Dynasty and moved to its current location in the 59th year of Kangxi. It was renovated three times and was originally named Jintang Academy. It was later renamed Xiuchuan Academy after the nearby Xiuchuan River.

? Xiuchuan Academy is a brick and wood structure with a blue tile roof and many doors and windows with latticework.

It is the earliest, largest, most famous and most prestigious academy in Jintang County.
