The Nanning Confucius Temple was built in the Northern Song Dynasty during the reign of Emperor Huang (1049-1054). It was originally located in Shashi outside the west gate of the city (near the foot of the water tower on Xinhua Street today). It was moved to the Nanning Hotel in the third year of Baoqing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1227).

Nanning Confucius Temple has been relocated three times from its initial construction to the early Republic of China.

Since the late Qing Dynasty, it has gradually collapsed, leaving only Dacheng Hall.

In 1982, due to the expansion of Nanning Hotel, the old Confucius Temple was finally demolished.

The dismantled building materials are stored in the Guangxi Exhibition Hall.

In May 2007, the main project of relocating the Nanning Confucius Temple began construction, and it took more than three years to complete the relocation on January 30, 2011.

The newly completed Confucius Temple is one of the largest Confucius temples in Guangxi and even Lingnan.
