I visited Gankeng Hakka Town in Buji Street, Shenzhen over the weekend. It has a unique Jiangnan town feel, with Hakka houses and many ancient buildings, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with houses connected by alleys. It's like a scroll.
There are also turrets, watchtowers, arcades, stilted buildings and other style buildings integrated into the landscape, forming a unique carrier of Hakka culture with the centuries-old Hakka houses.

Gankeng Hakka Town Travel Notes:
My favorite is the Family Style Family Training Hall, which is on the third floor of the stilted building against the mountain behind the building complex. When I walked in, I saw a sculpture of the ancient Chinese saint Confucius. I felt so much respect for the saint that I took a photo with him without hesitation.
Here are displays of family traditions and mottos of ancient Chinese literati and heroes, such as Laozi, Mozi, Zhu Xi, Wang Shouren, Zeng Guofan, and many family genealogies.
What’s even more fortunate is that there is a genealogy of the Shen family with the same surname as mine. I can accidentally dig out my ancestors. It seems that I really should go out and walk more.
The most amazing thing is the exquisite layout of the ancient Chinese buildings here. The buildings are distributed in a dense and dense manner, and the passages and corridors are in line with human nature, condensed and not crowded;
The architectural design is magnificent and everywhere It embodies the harmony and tranquility of Chinese culture;
The exquisite craftsmanship of the craftsmen is clearly visible here. The grand and complex buildings are all mortise and tenon structures without a single nail, which fully reflects the old craftsmanship. The spirit of human craftsmanship and the hard-working and dedicated spirit of the Chinese nation.
Walking through this picturesque town with a strong Hakka culture, the aroma of delicious food is astounding, and one cannot help but mention the various delicacies here, including Taiwanese style snacks, Hakka custom pastries, and more. The stinky tofu from Changsha is complemented by the shop owner’s alluring signboard and provocative shouts.
Unable to resist the temptation of delicious food, we walked into a Hakka-style restaurant and ordered the signature dish Hakka Kiln Chicken and traditional side dishes. The taste was good, especially the skin of the Kiln Chicken was tender, smooth and greasy. I really admired the Hakka style. Human wisdom, hard work and never forgetting to appreciate delicious food.
A Hakka town interprets Hakka culture vividly. I never imagined that in Shenzhen, a fast-paced, modern and prosperous city, there is such a quiet Taoyuan rich in Chinese culture and embodies slow life. It is our A great place to rest and relax.
