The six municipal districts are respectively Siming District, Huli District, jimei district, Haicang District, Tong 'an District and Xiang 'an District.
Eight informal economic administrative zones are Xiamen Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Xiamen Export Processing Zone, Xiamen Xiangyu Bonded Zone, Xiamen Haicang Bonded Port Area, Xiamen Xiangyu Bonded Logistics Park, Xiamen Haicang Taiwanese Investment Zone, Xiamen Jimei Taiwanese Investment Zone and Xiamen Xinglin Taiwanese Investment Zone. Sub-provincial cities, special economic zones, important central cities, ports and scenic tourist cities along the southeast coast. Xiamen is located at the southeast end of Fujian Province, bordering Zhangzhou in the west, Nan 'an and Jinjiang in the north, facing Dajinmen and Dadan Island across the sea in the southeast, and is a major city in southern Fujian. It is also known as Xiamen-Zhangquan Minnan Golden Triangle Economic Zone with Zhangzhou and Quanzhou.
Xiamen consists of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, Haicang Peninsula on the west bank, Jimei Peninsula on the north bank, Xiang 'an Peninsula on the east bank, Dalong Island, Tongan in the inland and Jiulong River, with a land area of 1,699.39 square kilometers and a sea area of more than 39 square kilometers. In the 21st century, Xiamen has gradually become a modern international port scenic tourist city, with world cultural heritage and the first batch of national 5A-level tourist attractions-Gulangyu Island.
