The Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine clearly records that "the quality of peony produced in Fenghuangshan, Tongling, Anhui Province is the best", so it is called Feng Dan. In April 2006, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the protection of geographical indication products in Feng Dan.
